The Global 6K for Water is an annual event organized by World Vision, an international humanitarian organization.

The concept behind it is simple yet powerful: participants walk or run 6 kilometers (approximately 3.7 miles)—the average daily distance that people, often children, in developing countries walk to collect water.

• Why 6K? It represents the average distance women and children in developing nations walk each day to fetch water, often from unsafe sources.
• Purpose: To raise awareness and funds to provide access to clean water for communities in need.
• Every registration = clean water for one person. When someone signs up for the 6K, their registration fee helps provide lasting clean water to one child through World Vision’s water programs.
• Family-friendly: People of all ages and abilities can join from anywhere—run, walk, push a stroller, all are welcome!

Approximately 703 million people lack access to basic drinking water; that’s almost one in every 11 people on the planet.

Nearly 4,000 people, more than 1,000 of whom are children under 5, die every day from diseases related to lack of safe water, sanitation, and hygiene.
